WWII Memorial (Labuan War Center)

Situated at Jalan Tanjung Batu. 3,905 graves of soldiers mostly Australians and British lie here. A memorial service is held on the nearest Sunday to 11 th of November. This memorial is maintained by the CommonwealthWar Graves Commission.

The Chimney

The Chimney

The chimney has often been said to be the ventilation shaft for the underground tunnels. Some had even suggested smoke has passed through it. But lately, excavation works around the immediate area has literally uncovered a mystery - beneath the base of the shaft are no tunnels to be found! So if it is really was supposed to be a ventilation shaft, why are there no tunnels? Further more, the diggings have revealed that the chimney is built on a base of white kaolin clay. It also has a foundation of twelve layers of bricks on which it sits, and there is no evidence of soot at all inside the chimney walls.

Also at Layang-Layangan. This is where the 37th Japanese Southern Army surrendered to the 9th Division Australian Imperial Forces on 9th September 1945 which led to the end of WWII in Borneo. It is also in this area that South East Asia's first war crime trials were conducted.

Located near the Tanjung Kubong Tunnel. This Birds Park shows a large variety of tropical birds from around the region such as hornbills, kingfishers, sharmas, mynas, herons and maybe even ostriches and peacocks.

The heart of Bandar Labuan, formally known as Victoria town. Flags of all the Malaysian states flutter beside the town Padang. Nearby are the four historical "flame of the forest" trees. Many stone plaques recall the historical events of Labuan throughout the years.

Labuan Marine Park

The three islands of Rusukan Kecil, Rusukan Besar and Kuraman make up this Park. Its wide sandy beaches are perfect for picnic and surf bathing. As it is close to the wreck-dive sites, many divers use it as their base. Rusukan Besar still has dense forest, but is nice for picnicking, swimming and snorkelling. Rusukan Kecil in its unspoilt state is suitable for camping. An atoll in the middle of the marine park has many snake sheltering there.

Situated at Layang-Layangan. This beautifully landscaped park was built as a memorial and renunciation of the horrors of war. A huge man-made mound is the focal point and there is a plague signifying the renunciation of war.

It is located near to the town (around 2km east) of Labuan and a 5 minutes drive is enough to reach this recreational park. It is situated right behind the old airport, along Jalan OKK Abdullah. Previously the grounds of the Government House that is locally known as the 'Bumbung 12'. The park possesses amazing landscape and beautiful old trees. The Government House has a low and long structure. Its architecture has its own unique design too, especially its very own roof. You can either hail a taxi or take mini bus services to the Labuan Botanical Garden as it can be reach in 5 minutes time from town. 

The Labuan Financial Park Complex

The Financial Park is the most impressive building in Labuan. This 17-storey complex with a built-up area of one million square feet stands as a landmark for the island's status as an International Offshore Financial Center. Within this complex are office blocks, condominiums and shopping arcades. It houses the Labuan Convention Hall, an ultra modern facility which can seat 1,500 people. The Financial Park provides an integrated working and living environment with facilities and services like broadband telecommunication facilities for offshore banking and other business activities.

The Labuan Marine Museum

Labuan Marine Museum was set up back in 2003 to help preserve the marine life of the island. There are two galleries in the museum: the first downstairs has various sizes of aquariums displaying an assortment of marine life from the mangrove swamp to the deep sea, as well as featured information on the four famous shipwrecks at the Labuan water - Australian Wreck, American Wreck, Cemnet Wreck and Blue Water Wreck; upstairs feature 17 sections of graphic-panel exhibits, models and replicas of the Labuan Marine Life, coral reef inhabitants, as well as other sea creatures found in the vast ocean, such as sharks, stingrays, sea turtles and many more.

UMS International Campus

University Malaysia Sabah International Campus located at the Kiamsam area. It is known for its special focus on multimedia and offshore finance studies. It is the only university on the island.
